In this sermon we learn that those who labor in ministry have the right to receive support for their work. Yet Paul was willing to give up that right rather than put an obstacle in the way of the gospel.
Ministry is not about personal recognition or reward, it is a stewardship entrusted to us by God. Paul reminds us that sometimes advancing the gospel means willingly surrendering our rights, preferences, and comforts for the sake of others.
What might we be willing to give up so that nothing stands in the way of the gospel?
